Xcalak
and the Chinchorro Banks can be considered the last of
the remote diving areas of the Great Maya Reef. Five minute
boat rides to local areas provide exceptional diving, while
the longer ride to Chinchorro's pristine waters is an unforgettable
experience. From swimming with the resident Tarpon school
at "La Poza" to the huge forests of black coral
at Chinchorro, there is something to see at any depth, whether
you are a novice or an expert. Without the crowds at more
established dive sites, you will feel as if you are diving
in your own private island. |

and Ilana Randall will delight you with their hospitality.
Dave’s knowledge of the area and Ilana’s
gourmet cooking complement the great diving.
Costa de Cocos is a laid-back dive and fishing resort.
You will room in beautifully set bungalows, the restaurant
is located in a huge “palapa” and the scattered
hammocks under the shady coconut palms offer a nice
spot to nap in-between dives. All three daily meals
are included and if the bartender is taking his nap,
the cash bar remains open on a self-serve basis. The
world's second longest barrier reef begins along Mexico's
Caribbean coast. This system is just minutes away from
Costa de Cocos, where you will find spectacular diving
rich with corals, large variety of tropical fish, walls
and large pelagics.
